I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I've just come across Kylie's track "Padam". So good!

And she just looks bloody amazing too.

It's reawoken my inner 14 year old. I'm going to have to learn the dance 😂

Yes - I don't normally like any music after 1998 but I really like this track.

Sparkletastic · 25/09/2023 17:51

It's a banger

Tribevibes · 25/09/2023 17:53

Hate it.

Twospaniels · 25/09/2023 17:54

I love that too - and also the newest one - Tension.

Mountaineer0009 · 25/09/2023 22:41

sounds more like a song for a radio in a space station in outa space.
that said its a good tune

Bluevelvetsofa · 25/09/2023 22:45

Loathsome song. Nasal and just no.

AutumnCrow · 25/09/2023 23:02

The middle chorus bit 'padam padam I hear it and I know' is a massive rip off of the Kaiser Chiefs' song 'Every Day I Love You Less And Less', specifically the chorus bit 'I know, I feel it in my bones, I'm sick, I'm tired of staying in control'.

Is it acknowledged anywhere? I haven't seen anything about it. Maybe it's just me.

I really don't see that at all

JulianFawcettMP · 25/09/2023 23:13

Also whatever one thinks of the song, it's incredible for a woman in her fifties to go too ten and make it the radio one playlist. Shouldn't be but it is

I thought that

stayathomer · 25/09/2023 23:23

With you op- I heard this and thought ‘please let this be Kylie!’ and then just nodded. Happy days!!

Rummikub · 25/09/2023 23:29

I like it too. And agree with op about it being played in radio 1 and how it was a battle.

just reading an article/ apparently 40pc of radio 1 listeners are 15-29. Im surprised by that.

HoogahToogah · 25/09/2023 23:40

To me it reminds me of Uninvited by Freemasons from 2007, but this is a softer version more palatable to the average radio listener

TheSpikySpinosaurus · 25/09/2023 23:41

But what does it mean? It's nonsense!

And Kylie should stop with the fillers and plastic surgery. She looks nothing like herself.

Time40 · 25/09/2023 23:57

But what does it mean? It's nonsense!

Padam, padam - it's the sound of the heartbeat of the guy who's bowled over by her irresistible charms.

Gillstuck · 25/09/2023 23:59

I admire Kylie massively. The song is catchy. The lyrics are tiresome. It's Kylie from 20+ years ago. Yes, I know you're still hot. But I want something richer, more interesting and complex from an icon like you. Please.

IdaPrentice · 26/09/2023 00:08

When I heard it, the first thing that struck me was, it would be an awesome Eurovision song - catchy, nonsense word chorus, fun, sexy, ultimate pop. I'm really curious to know who wrote it, and if they had Eurovision in mind, then decided it was too good for that and offered it to Kylie instead!

IdaPrentice · 26/09/2023 00:14

Ha! I was right - just looked it up on wikipedia - written by Norwegian singer Ina Wroldson with a British producer and they first considered giving it to Rita Ora, or for Eurovision!

Softer version would be the original by Alanis Morissette.

I don't mind Kylie but her music is very dated.

BeverleyMacker · 26/09/2023 06:15

Don't get the hype with this song. Love tension though.

stilldumdedumming · 26/09/2023 06:15

Padam means 'step' is Sanskrit and is linked to words like pedal in English. Padam padam kind of means step by step. I say it to myself all the time to slow my thinking down.

Yes, I totally agree! The punctuation and beat is the same!

I assume it must be also inspired by Edith Piaf's song of the same name.
