Mistake at car accident: called AA instead of insurance, what to do now?

Hello, need a bit of advice how to proceed. My DP was driving on a main road today when someone appoaching from a side road on the left failed to give way and went into the side of our car. Car was badly damaged, so DP called the AA who arranged for the car to be towed and family brought home. There was a cost to the towing which AA explained would be claimable from our insurance. AA towed car to our home address and they are supposed to pick it up tomorrow and bring a courtesy car. However, once at home, DP realised that she should have phoned our insurance and not the AA. Our policy with is only for roadside assistance and she only realised at home (after seeing the emails AA had sent) that she had inadvertently taken out a new AA 'after the event' insurance. We have an existing comprehensive insurance, so I don't think this new insurance we should actually continue with. Now she knows she should have called the insurance company instead, but she was in shock and just thinking of getting the kids home safe. What is the best course of action? Shall we try to cancel AA coming tomorrow to assess the damage and deliver the courtesy car and try to proceed with our normal car insurance? Or have we screwed things up by calling AA instead? We have now logged the claim with Admiral online as their phone line is closed until Monday.
Thank you very much for any wisdom!

You insurance company will just cover the cost of the recovery and claim it back from the third party insurers just ask the AA to send the invoice so you can submit to admiral

Thank you very much, so is it not a problem it wasn't Admiral that arranged for the towing?
And what will happen with the courtesy car? Should we accept this from AA or arrange through Admiral?

it won’t be an issue they will cover the costs I would wait to speak with them tomorrow as admiral may offer you a courtesy car if you use their approved repairer or they will arrange a hire car if needed
