It has been going round my head for the last 24 hours. Friends are stopping over and I have tried to sing it with partial success. They got what I was trying and one or two remember it, but nobody has nailed it yet.
It has an R&B vibe, slow subtle bass drum beat that comes to an abrupt stop, female group, with a choir like melody. I recall an organ introduction, something in four beats, low, high, lower, higher, then repeat. The song is an urgent one about being ready to move on together, but being honest and true if not. It is a woman asking a man if he is ready to commit. Late 1980's to mid 1990's I think.
Have googled lots with no joy, Soul to Soul, Inner City, Expose. So frustrating.
