What would you think I am suffering from?

If you saw me out in shorts, what would you think I was suffering with?

I’m abroad so would love to get my shorts and T-shirt on but have stuck to trousers and and a floaty shirt so far. My arms and hands are covered in them as well and a few on my face. Would you recoil and think I might be contagious?

I would think bed bugs

Doyoureallyhavetoask · 24/09/2023 15:11

Guttate Psoriasis? Discoid eczema?

Doesn't look like anything contagious to me.

OnTimeStillLate · 24/09/2023 15:11

I'd probably be worrying too much about what my legs looked like than looking at yours. If I did notice them, I'd probably just think it was a skin condition of some sort and think that hopefully a bit of sun would help! Don't worry what anyone else thinks, wear those shorts!!

Sandfly bites?

MolkosTeenageAngst · 24/09/2023 15:13

Probably wouldn’t notice or think anything but ifI did probably think a bad reaction to being bitten by mosquitos/ fleas or something. Wouldn’t think it was contagious.

MissingMoominMamma · 24/09/2023 15:14

I’d think you’d been badly bitten by insects.

LonlinessPandemix · 24/09/2023 15:15

I wouldn't give it a second thought. Not my body not my business.

Rosiem2808 · 24/09/2023 15:20

Looks like psoriasis to me. And I should know :(

mynameiscalypso · 24/09/2023 15:26

I'd also assume it was a type of psoriasis although it doesn't particularly look like mine. I'd think good on you for getting them out.

BlunderBust · 24/09/2023 15:39

Thank you everyone. @Boopeedoop got it right. Bed bugs. They’ve almost stopped itching but still look grim. I’m going to get my shorts on. Genuinely thank you all 🙏

Yes I’d be worried they were contagious… and avoid you… but on holiday it wouldn’t bother me too much I just wouldn’t share your sunbed. Maybe the sun will help?

YukoandHiro · 24/09/2023 15:42

Boopeedoop · 24/09/2023 15:09

I would think bed bugs

That doesn't look anything like bite reactions!

YukoandHiro · 24/09/2023 15:44

Jesus! If that's bugs you've got a really severe problem with tens/hundreds of adult bugs. Are you on holiday? I would honestly suggest not bringing your case home. They can be impossible to get rid of once embedded in your house

AbbeyGailsParty · 24/09/2023 15:47

Bed bugs ???? Oh my god, I’d barely thought of them til I read about them on here. Now I’m neurotic, check my bed every week, spray suitcases before and after holidays.
Your poor legs, do you have something for them? I’d be tempted to leave my cases and all my clothes b3hind. And name and shame where you’re staying.

coolkatt · 24/09/2023 16:04

i would assume its bites from a pretty far off vacation. not
contagious, really itchy and no cure only time to let it calm down.
i would not recoil but i would prob stare as i'd be so keen to squeeze or scratch them lol

PosterBoy · 24/09/2023 16:09

well I wouldn't assume contagious, anyway, if that's your worry.

As another poster said, don't bring your bag home.

themez · 24/09/2023 16:23

Bed bugs????? Really?

BlunderBust · 24/09/2023 17:16

We stayed one night in a mid-range hotel in London last week.

One crawled across the sheets near my face when I woke up - I was out of that bed and nowhere near it again. I’m ravaged. Hotel have refunded for the room. Small compensation.

DH has quite a lot but nothing like me. Think his hairiness has protected him a bit.

I work on an ambulance in London. They are absolutely rife at the moment. It's a nightmare.

Take an antihistamine and use hydrocortisone cream very sparingly on the worst ones.

SirVixofVixHall · 24/09/2023 19:34

Bloody hell OP there must have been loads of them, horrendous. I didn’t realise they were so common in the UK. I haven’t ever seen one . I think the hotel should be paying some sort of compensation, you are so badly bitten.
I hope that the bites calm down, there are so many, are they making you feel unwell ?

BlunderBust · 25/09/2023 06:39

I’ve been sleeping loads - much more than normal. I’ve had no appetite and so have felt quite weak and generally miserable. There’s a lot for my defences to go at so I’m too surprised. I don’t think any are infected, yet, but I’m keeping an eye. Thanks 😊
