Birthday gift question

Imagine this- a few weeks before your birthday, you make a large purchase from the joint account (about £400). Something essential but also a luxury (a household appliance, phone etc).

Because money is a bit tight, you say it can be your birthday present.

Actual birthday comes around and you have zero gifts from DH.

Are you disappointed that you didn’t get a small gift eg box of your favourite chocolates, bottle of wine etc

Or are you happy that DH remembered that you had your gift already and don’t need anything else?

Asking for a friend 🥸

You have a conversation about it and say you feel sad. The more you talk about your feelings the healthier your relationship will be. Many guys will take any excuse not to bother with gifts (I'm still having to remind my adult son haha). YANBU
