I live in an older house, 80s build. It has no insulation in the attic and it is damp in parts.
Before the winter sets in, I was checking the fireplace and thinking of booking a sweep.
I looked inside of the fireplace. I don't know how the inside of fireplaces are supposed to look or be.
I will give some pictures. Last time I did a fire was last winter and the fireplace will have to be cleaned.
If you see from this picture there's a metal grate type of thing at the back of the fireplace. And if you see there's a line that looks uneven.
Would that be rust?
I wonder if that would be dampness in the chimney breast and I don't know if the chimney is compromised.
I can't afford major work on the house or chimney breast.
