Electric car and best apps

Hi there,
We've just bitten the bullet and bought an electric car. It arrived today, and we part-exchanged our old car. We don't do a lot of long distance driving but (bad timing) we do have to do a long journey this weekend. So, I've been trying to work out which Apps will be useful - especially to see "live" which chargers are working / available etc. What would download? So far I have BP, Zapmap and Tesla (not that we have a Tesla, but see some places you can use their superfast charger).
Any tips from the experts, please?
Thanks!

A Better Route Planner.

You will never need anything else.

It takes account of what kind of car you have, your preferred charger type, tells you when to stop and for how long and what your battery charge will be when you get there, the weather. And as you approach the charging destination it tells you how many chargers are available.

I think over time you end up acquiring all the apps...every time I come up to a new charger I have to download a new fucking app. It's so frustrating and my favourite was when I pulled up to one in an underground carpark and then had to start the charge using their app, which didn't work underground and the carpark had no wifi.

I tend to use the Shell and VendElectric ones the most, but that's because my two closest charging stations to home are those two. And Zapmap when I'm travelling a little further afield, though I will check out A Better Route Planner!

PS I absolutely love my EV though and will never go back. I hate when I have to drive our old petrol estate, it's so slow and smelly and loud by comparison.

Thanks so much both! I downloaded "A better route planner"... and in the end used ZapMap and the BP Pulse one, but I'm sure I'll be using ABRP too!

It seems like the etiquette around chargers and queuing is still working itself out! We had some people q pushy and trying to hop into the first space even if others were waiting, and we also had a lovely man who offered to move his car so ours could better reach one of the pods and was really helpful! Our very unscientific survey based on one long return trip this weekend was that the chances of turning up and finding a charger available and working were slightly less than 50%... but we had factored this into our plans, and I'm sure things will get better. One of the motorway services had two machines which we were told were charging for free as the card machine was broken, so lots of people trying to use it. But it charged so slowly we gave up... But there was a whole new row being built there, so hopefully it will ease.

Thanks again!

OP, I've been driving an EV for 8 years. I can tell you that ABRP is the game-changer app.
