Can anyone recommend independent restaurants in South Devon?

Will be staying in a relative's apartment in Shaldon for 3 nights next month with a friend and we both need a weekend of cheering up after a bad couple of months.

We'd like to eat out every night and would like independent places with decent vegan and omni options. Happy to travel about an hour for this in any direction.

Can anyone recommend anywhere for me?

I was going to suggest Rockfish - there's one in Torquay, but not sure they do vegan food. They're a fish restaurant, I believe they do a few vegetarian dishes but not sure about vegan.
Las Iguanas in Torquay is good too - but is part of a national chain - but much bigger menu.

Totnes has a range of vegan places. Used to have a lovely cafe but now closed.

The Pig at Combe, Not cheap but worth it!

Cantina on Goodrington beach - Paignton. And the Curious Kitchen in Brixham , also a Rockfish there. Lots of places in Dartmouth. Probably worth phoning ahead to check opening times as it’s coming to the end of the season, also staff shortages are still causing problems.

Oh, you are in such a good place for that - the food round there is amazing. My particular recommendations are the Riverford Field Kitchen at Staverton and Wild Artichokes in Kingsbridge, but the Oyster Shack at Bigbury is also good too.

The Church House Inn in Stokeinteignhead does excellent food, as does the Elizabethan Inn at Luton (near Ideford). The Manor Inn at Lower Ashton in the Teign Valley was our favourite for years.

We had a great meal at Old Vienna Restaurant in Torquay, very retro in some ways but really lovely food. Had my vegan brother and sister in law with us who can be difficult to please with food, but they were happy with what they had too.
