When did "a hundred percent!" become such a common phrase?

Watching "My Mum Your Dad". They say it all the time.
I've noticed the "younger generation" using it for a while but these people are my age.

Is it just something I've not noticed before?
Has it been the general way to say "definitely" for a long time?

So fairly recently then? I wasn't sure if I'd never just tuned into it before. Kind of like how I didn't notice prams everywhere until I was pregnant!

It's been around for ages. I'd say it's on it's way out now.

I say "absolutely" far more than I should...

I agree with you OP, I've recently noticed it being said by everybody around me; even I've started doing it!

I had to check myself in a meeting recently when I commented "totes" (totally). I'm in my 50's and in a senior role. It slipped out.

I'm 30 and I've been saying it since secondary school 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don't say it/notice it as often now

I thought, 'For sure' is the most common acknowledgement now!

DP says “hundy p” as an ironic shorthand

My parents used it in the 80s.

I love that, I might steal it to annoy my teenager
