How weird would it be to send a friend request?

I'm very careful with my FB profile. Only friends I know and like IRL. As a result my FB feed is a smiley happy place with none of the toxicity FB is often criticised for.

I'm in a number of groups around various interests, which include people I don't know. I've been "bantering" with a man in one of those groups for years...would it be weird? He can only ignore it?

We have some heated discussions but no lines are ever crossed. His profile pictures (I can't see anything else) show man with his friends and young nephew, never a woman, and who loves his dogs, the outdoors and our shared interest....

What are you hoping to add to the relationship but doing this? Are you looking for more from him?

Janieforever · 22/09/2023 09:23

Are you thinking of how to get romantic with Him?

cruffinsmuffin · 22/09/2023 09:23

Sounds absolutely normal if you're often talking! He can ignore it if he wants 😊

I don't know, just see what happens. I'm currently in a phase in life where a lot of change has been necessary, I've really widened my social circle, which has been life changing in a really positive way. All part of that I suppose. I'm having a "what's the worst that can happen/go for it" phase.

Maybe/maybe not. Adding opportunity I suppose.

Nothing wrong with sending a friend request, if he finds it "weird" he can always ignore it or refuse it. Friend request is exactly that, nothing romantic about it.

LittleMonks11 · 22/09/2023 09:29

How would you feel if he does ignore it? Would it make you feel awkward to carry on bantering?

Yes, probably, but given time, I could probably convince myself he thinks I sent it by mistake 😆

He's an admin on the group, so it's entirely possible he might just have a policy of never accepting friend requests. That's what I'll go with anyway...

If you can cope with rejection then just go for it.

Xztop · 22/09/2023 09:35

Go for it! Can't do any harm...

Widowsfire · 22/09/2023 09:41

Gosh, I went for it and he's already accepted!

Oh I’d definitely want to but would cringe if he rejected it 😬 Yeah but if you don’t you’ll never know… send it 😂

FastAndLast · 22/09/2023 09:42

x posted, that’s good 👍🏻

LittleMonks11 · 22/09/2023 09:43

😁

Widowsfire · 22/09/2023 09:46

Now what do I do? 😆

I’d be going through his page with a fine tooth comb, make sure you don’t like a photo from 5 years ago accidentally 😂

Looks like divorced with a teenage/young adult son. Lots of mates from way back. Strong political views on the decent side 😆 (which I knew). Solvent, judging by the amount of travel he does....

You’re going to have to let us know now if this takes a romantic turn…

They don’t call it ‘come sit on my facebook’ for nothing. Go for it!
