What could be causing this?

On Tuesday evening I started having the most excruciating cramps in my pelvic region and there was a bit of spotting so I assumed it was ovulation. By 3am I was writhing in agony, shivering with teeth chattering, horrifically thirsty but also felt really nauseous.

I was sick which made me feel better but the cramping pain was still awful and I was still shivering with a temperature, headache etc.

It's been 48 hours now and I have managed to eat something and keep it down but still feel uncomfortable in pelvic area with spotting but not proper bleeding. I've still got headache and weirdly also am experiencing withdrawal symptoms from my antidepressants even though I've taken them (and kept them down).

Any thoughts on what might cause this?

Could you be having a miscarriage? Or an ectopic pregnancy?

JamMakingWannaBe · 21/09/2023 21:58

How old are you? Could it be peri-meno?

DustyLee123 · 21/09/2023 21:58

Covid ? If you take away the pelvic symptoms it could be.

See a Dr/call 111. Torsion of the ovary is another high risk condition to consider.

Findyourneutralspace · 21/09/2023 22:01

Is there a chance you could be pregnant?

HeathrowQuestion · 21/09/2023 22:05

Yes, torsion was my first thought. Acute pelvic infection, ectopic pregnancy, ruptured ovarian cyst, volume be anything really so definitely get it checked out especially if you have a temperature, headache and shivering. Stuff like sepsis needs to be ruled out. Don’t let them fob you off with “glands” or “perimenopause”

Pressuretoohigh · 21/09/2023 22:06

99% sure not pregnant as my period was a few weeks and not had sex since.

I'm 42 and my periods have definitely been much, much heavier over the last year - assuming peri-menopause

Call 111 and follow their advice. You have high risk symptoms for a few serious conditions so please stop posting and seek medical attention.

anyadvicefor · 21/09/2023 22:10

Could it be a ruptured cyst ?

Seriously Covid?

lemonyfox · 21/09/2023 22:12

I've had a ruptured ectopic and had carried on having periods whilst pregnant with it. Do a test and rule it out, if you're able to do so (not in debilitating pain etc)

fourlambbhunas · 21/09/2023 22:13

I had an ovarian cyst burst and threw up and blacked out from the pain. For the following week my lower abdomen was really tender and I felt rubbish. It's definitely worth getting it checked. I hope you're feeling better soon

OnAFrolicOfMyOwn · 21/09/2023 22:15

Ovarian torsion? Ruptured cyst? You need to see a doctor.

InterFactual · 21/09/2023 23:01

Something to do with waterworks? Bladder / kidney stones or infection?

Goingcrazyimsure · 21/09/2023 23:30

Fibroids? Pain from these was worse than childbirth. Get checked out asap. I'd go to A and E
