What presents do you ask for?

I always get a bit stumped on this. If it's my birthday/ Christmas my lovely in laws always ask what I'd like, and I never know what to say!
I'm not desperately well off, but if I want something I tend to pick it up as I go along. I'm also quite fussy so wouldn't like to ask for e.g pyjamas and not like them, is it rude to be 100% prescriptive and send a link for the exact item?
It just feels like such a terrible waste to have something I won't use. Does anyone else struggle? I know I should think ahead really, that'd solve all my problems.
I've just never thought to keep a "wish list" in my head, growing up we were just grateful for whatever we got so I've never really coveted a huge amount.

I always ask for the make up and skincare products that I use. They're relatively expensive so it's a treat to not buy them myself.

My family and in laws are mostly male with no clue about these things so I absolutely do send links for which they are very grateful 😂

Audible credits.

I recently requested that my parents do something for themselves for my birthday. My father has wanted to lose weight and attain a healthier lifestyle for some time and so I stated that him making that commitment to himself would be the most valuable gift he could give me.
