I never understand this.
"If you can afford to go to the Bahamas you can afford an extra £300 for direct flights" - no, the indirect is £500 return, and I'll be staying with family.
"If you can afford to go to Venice, you can afford the private vaporetto" - no, we've budgeted carefully to be able to go to Venice.
"If you can afford private school fees you can afford blah blah blah".
Surely it stands to reason that if you are already paying for something you won't have spare money automatically.
I get "if you can afford to holiday in the Bahamas you can afford to buy your children clothes that fit" obviously.
