Samsung Flip 4 - Do they ALL break??...

Hi,

So I'm on my 3rd and it's cracked again! Heard that crunch a couple of days a go and have now got that all too familiar bubbly line across the whole screen 🙄

Pretty much everyone I know who has one have the exact same issue! Surely Samsung need to sort this out. Vodafone have told me it's a manufacturing issue, which it is, but I'm still not paying for it.

Because I'm contracted, they say that all they can do is keep offering a repair, but this is really inconvenient. I have to stay in between 6 and 6 on whatever day for the collection, transfer my data, wait for the repair team to get in touch, then wait in again for package to arrive, transfer data.....then wait for the crunch again and back round we go 😖 This will be my 4th phone in a year!

I'm assuming this must be a common problem?..

My daughter's has cracked after about 18 months. It was a present from her grandparents too.

I have to say this is the phone I so wanted till I read all the issues.
I hope you get satisfaction from them.

I have had mine for about a year. I have had to have the safety film replaced , but the phone itself is fine.

@user1471556818 they're soooo pretty, but the design is clearly rubbish. It just can't seem to handle, well...being used.

I had the Flip 3 which cracked across the middle. Sent it to Samsung, they wanted over £350 because there were chips in the paint on the phone (one on the outside folding and one by the on/off button). Bearing in mind I only every used THEIR cases for it, that dont actually cover the whole phone, hence how it has managed to happen. They said it was dented when it absolutely wasnt. Anyway I told them to piss off and ended up sending to insurance, paid £100 and had a brand spanking new one delivered two days later. So angry at Samsung, a clearly known issue that they are squirming out of fixing by using minor and irrelevant technicalities. Scummy behaviour.

My safety film needs replacing but I either have to travel miles into the nearest city centre or be without phone for 10 day so I'm putting up with bubbly screen for now, but it's so annoying.
Thankfully the screen is fine and lasted loads longer than a normal phone (I'm prone to dropping them) but the factory fitted screen protector is a nightmare.

@bruffin safety film?

The screen protector is like a plastic film. Mine went acrosd the middle on the fold line. It did make a cracking sound when i closed it, but wasnt the screen itself. I took it to Kings Cross and they fitted a new one for nothing.

GnT23 · 21/09/2023 18:38

Ah, yes - I think it is the plastic film that's breaking then, rather than the screen.

I've raised a complaint and said I just want a new phone. Can't keep doing this.

Can anyone recommend one? If the Flip 5 had fixed the design fault of the Flip 4, I'd be happy to give that one a go.
