I've come on here to vent. Apologies in advance.

I'm so fed up of all the WhatsApp class chats complaining when good teachers use perfectly acceptable methods to manage their class. Keeping the chatty or disruptive ones back from break for 5 minutes? Providing a small amount of homework in year 6 to help prepare them for secondary etc, etc? How the teacher manages behaviour may be very different from how you would manage your child, but you aren't managing 29+ others too. You don't have a PGCE and years of teaching experience under your belt, I'm guessing?

I can't say this on the chat. I won't contribute. I won't leave the group as it is otherwise useful. I will not be the class pariah who speaks out against you. But arggggh!

Sounds like my sons Year 6 whatsapp group….

Do you use WhatsApp Broadcasts as a feature?

It sends out a separate reminder message to each person on a list individually, no group chat. If I ran a school group, I'd be tempted to do broadcast only.

But yeah, YANBU. It seems like such an obviously backwards step to allow this sort of shit to go on, yet still schools do it. I've developed technology for schools, but it's actually teacher focused, and we've always resisted leadership or parent feedback requesting in-app comms because it doesn't contribute anything of value.

YANBU, you see it on here as well. Multiple threads complaining that the work isn't hard enough. We're not even at the end of September!

The chatter (moaning) on WhatsApp has all but stopped today! I wonder if some of the parents spotted this thread? Brilliant if so, and slightly embarrassing. Yeah, it got me so worked up I started a Mumsnet thread about it 😳
