Big boat, help!

Our neighbour has kindly parked a monstrous boat on their shared driveway during the night. It's huge. They can't even park their car in front without the car hanging onto the cul de sac.

It's even weirder as we never see them, they always have the blinds down and lights on all night so this boat adds to their mystery Grin

Is this even allowed? It's bloody ugly!!! Hmm

You are being ridiculous about every aspect of this non-issue.

boatfiasco · 21/09/2023 12:54

@trulyunruly01 yes that's correct. That's why I was wondering but I'll check the deeds Smile

@SisterMichaelsHabit probably. Always nice to vent though.

If it isn't blocking acces or any light it wouldn't bother me, and I don't find it an eyesore either.

TBH, I'm struggling to see what the issue is. I'd be more concerned to see one of these on my shared drive.

Big boat, help!

@boatfiasco your very welcome. Hope it’s resolved soon. They may just be holding it for a day or two until they can get it to winter storage at the weekend.

I am exceedingly jealous (really really) that you have that to look out on. I have nextdoor neighbours patio full of rubbish and dog crap, and their bramble filled lawn and their garage with several buddlias growing out it’s roof and driveway. I would trade in a heartbeat.

Our neighbour has kindly parked a monstrous boat
It's a day boat at best. Tiny.

on their shared driveway
It's clearly on their side and not blocking you in any way shape or form. Not sure why you'd want or need access to the area of their drive directly in front of their garage so whether the deeds say it's shared or not is irrelevant.

It's huge.
Have you ever actually seen a boat before IRL?

They can't even park their car in front without the car hanging onto the cul de sac.
When you say cul de sac, it's legal to park on a public road so if their driveway goes straight to the road with no pavement this is another non-issue.

It's even weirder as we never see them
They're probably hanging out with people who don't judge them for parking a boat on their drive or try and look in through their windows.

they always have the blinds down
Probably for the best with nosey neighbours like you around.

lights on all night
Surely if you're awake to see these lights on "all night" you've got yours on too? Or do you just sit in a dark room staring into next door's windows hoping for a glimpse of the boating life?

Is this even allowed?
Almost certainly.

boatfiasco · 21/09/2023 13:02

@SisterMichaelsHabit you're a bundle of joy aren't you. We notice their lights on as when I get up for a wee at night, their light shines on our cul de sac with no lampposts!

We have blinds down and lights on at night. - easy explanation it’s because we work very odd night swing shifts!

ColleenDonaghy · 21/09/2023 13:09

We live by the sea and it's very common to see small boats like this on driveways during the winter. If it's not blocking your access then let it go.

20cheeseomelette · 21/09/2023 13:18

Problems are dumped prams, bikes, sofas, fridges, frequent jet washing and hoovering of multiple cars, loud music, screaming kids, frequent shouting and swearing, fights, making loud telephone calls outside other people’s windows, smoking in front of other people’s open windows in a 30 degree summer when you have your own garden, vermin etc.

Not a small tidily parked boat on a tidy property which isn’t blocking the drive, the road, the light or the view.

If the weather is anything like ours they will be needing it soon.

itsalongwaybackfromsorry · 21/09/2023 17:29

Our housing estate specifically bans motorhomes and boats from being stored on site, might be worth checking your deeds.

boatfiasco · 21/09/2023 17:30

@itsalongwaybackfromsorry thank you, I thought this too. I'll have a look when home.
