DS is probably going to end up staying at his school to do his BTEC and A level but has decided he wants to look at a couple of colleges out of borough that offering slightly different BTEC courses (& A levels). I wasn't sure whether I was expected to go with him - I have booked tickets at the colleges but the questions they asked while booking were very much aimed at potential students rather adults (if that makes sense). He is fine for us to go but wanted to look around with his mates and we go later (there's a 4 hour window).

Seems like a good compromise.

I went with one of my DD's and my second dd went with her school friends.

When I went places with DD1 I took her, then we split up to look around meeting up to compare notes. It worked quite well.

You may have different focus points, eg you may want to ask how parents are kept informed of any issues, your DS may not think that relevant.

Thank you - that's what I thought, good to get a perspective from all angles (not just what lunch they serve and if he gets a lanyard which seems to be DS's priority ;)
