Please help me find some walking trousers

They must be in a short/petite length, in a size 18, and not too low waisted.

When I was a smaller size I had some from Montane, but their thighs aren’t generous enough so I found them too tight when climbing over stiles etc, and anyway they only go up to 16.

I got some from Craghoppers and they do fit better, but they have a 2000s-style low waist so they keep falling down no matter what size, even with a belt.

Any other suggestions please? Not many companies seem to make petite length trousers in a size 18, and I’m pear shaped so the waist does need to be high enough.

Acai? They have shorter leg lengths.

Try the Brasher ladies walking trousers, you might need to hem them as they are quite long but definitely a proper high waist

i have some good ones from Tog 24. You need to trawl through the website but they do have some “proper” walking gear.

Just seen Brasher are doing different lengths now so you might not need to hem!

Petite length might also mean a shorter rise even on a high waisted style so I wouldn’t rule out buying regular length and hemming them/getting them hemmed. It would maybe 20minutes for someone to put up the hem by hand if they are fairly tapered round the ankles or it’s probably the cheapest quicker alteration to have done by a professional.

Sweaty Betty Explorer.

Mountain Warehouse - and have them hemmed if need be.

Hiking leggings?
Try different brands and sizes to get the best fit for your shape.

They're not cheap, but miles more comfortable than trousers.

I got these from M&S - they are meant to be ankle length so a good "normal" fit for shorties. Very comfortable

I much prefer

Thank you everyone, I’ll explore all of these options.

The reason I’m not inclined to get things hemmed is because some walking trousers have features at the bottom of the leg such as zips or reinforced panels. Also some of them have reinforced knees which need to be in the right place, so hemming doesn’t solve that.
