Does anyone know of a mental health charity that supports the spouse, when their OH is hopitalized

A dear colleague's husband has been in hospital for 10 days, he has just been moved closer to home, but he is likely to remain in hospital for a few more weeks at least.

Are there any support services available to her? She is in a different town to me and doesn't drive. Also, she needs to plug in to a community who knows about the system and likely outcomes.

Any advice.

It might depend on the diagnosis. Marie Curie and Macmillan offer support for cancer patients as well as their families. Perhaps you could Google for the specific condition plus 'support for relatives'.

Thanks, he is mentally ill and has had some sort of breakdown. I didn't make that clear!

It's charities that support families of mentally ill people that i am looking for

For mental health Mind is probably an option.

Carers UK are probably a good shout — they focus on well being a lot.

And a local good neighbour scheme or local branch of Citizens Advice would be able to signpost to specific local orgs

Thanks both. I'll send the suggestions to her
