New car advice - how to proceed?

Previously, we bought DHs car with a small inheritance he received. I had a company car at the time. When I left that job, I bought a second hand car on my credit card/0% balance transfer and paid it off quickly.

Unfortunately, DH now desperately needs a new car - new to him rather than brand new.

We aren’t sure of the best way forward at the moment. Is car finance good via a garage? Bank loans seem expensive. We would have a grand, may be 2 as a deposit for a garage.

My car is 11 with 90000 on the clock. I don’t travel much. 12 mile round trip to work 5 days plus extra miles for kids activities and supermarket. My car could last 5 years if we did finance or a loan for DH but similarly, we have spent more on mine in the last 2 years and my concern is that becomes more and more the older it gets - what if we can’t get more finance or another bank loan for me if we are paying DHs car off.

We are absolutely a 2 car family. There is no way round that. Do we bite the bullet and go for 2 newer cars now? What’s the best finance to go for. What would you do?

If anyone is up to date with car buying or has any advice I’d be really grateful for any help.

It depends on your finances?

We could probably do up to £20k either as a loan or on finance but that would have to be on 2 cars.
