I'm short. I'm a total short arse
I'm less than 5 feet tall
In a hospital appointment, as I was leaving the room, the T&O consultant mentioned in passing, that I seemed to have 'disproportionately short' limbs
Fast forward to now where, I've just had to measure myself up for an OH appointment and one of the measurements was for the femur
After taking the measurement, I remembered that height can be estimated from femur length
So, out of curiosity, I tried a number of different calculations and I'm fairly consistently 5 to 6 inches taller than the femoral estimate
According to the femoral estimate, I should be closer to 4 foot 4 inches
My back has literally been doing a lot of the heavy lifting through my life (back pain being the cause of the OH appointment)
My arms are also short, so I'm forever leaning over desks to reach keyboards and equipment
But does that mean, if my limbs had been in proportion, I'd be 5 or 6 inches taller?
If my scattered human remains were to be found, would the forensic scientist underestimate my height?
While I've always known something was 'up', it has been a weird experience seeing 'proof'
