Gah! When did buying tickets become such a faff?!

Pure rant after a day of trying to buy student bus pass for my daughter only to be told we have to change her email address to her college email address (fine,I get that) but we now need to wait 14 days for an 'agent' to do the edit 🙈

Then this evening hoping to buy tickets for my son & niece to see Olivia Rodrigo - (whoever she is) after registering the other day to get a code, but nope. No code, we're on a waiting list despite umpteen tweets by people with multiple codes that they don't want, can't use, but can't pass on.

I just want to make a simple ticket purchase and get on with my life 😫

I feel your pain! Got gig tickets recently & felt like I’d won the Lotto… Everything now has this layer of red tape. Even buying something in the shop, there’s always a “computer says no” moment / something thrusting a phone in your face!

EVERYTHING is a fucking hassle with technology now.

I swear that our AI chat overlords are plotting to eventually overwhelm us by requiring us to download so many apps and codes just in order get out the bloody front door and function that at some point in the not too distant future the entire human race will be staring at buffering phone screens as the project becomes complete. It is absolute fuckery everywhere you look with no human interaction at all.

It is! I just want to sort my own stuff out but all this electronic handholding is driving me nuts.

At least if I'd gone online and not been successful buying the concert tickets I could say 'Oh well, I tried' but this new registration thing decides whether you even have the chance to try. __

They say it's to avoid scammers, but the scammers are still scamming- now trying to sell unusable codes to desperate kids 🤷🏻‍♀️ (and their exasperated mothers 😆)

Everything is like this now. You can't just buy something, you have to register then check your email for a code, then check your text for a code, then log in then do a recaptcha, then your gmail app wants to check it's really you, then you try to pay but you have to go into your banking app and approve the transaction then go back to the original site. I know it's all for security and it saves us getting robbed but Jesus it's an awful pain in the hole.

I bought theatre tickets recently, and 48 hours before the play I got emailed a link to an online form which I had to fill in to "release" the tickets I'd already purchased to me, presumably to ensure that you haven't resold the tickets to someone else.

It's an obscure "new musical" that's only running for a week, very few tickets told, I hardly think they need to worry about touts!

I’ve got a presale code for Olivia Rodrigo but am trying to log in to Ticketmaster and getting guff about it not being the right account associated with the email I got the code sent to. Yes it is. Obviously can’t call anyone so that’ll be the kids disappointed.

I have a very disappointed DS here too. I miss the days of calling the box office with my mums credit card in my hand
