Cataloging CD collection before getting rid of it?

I have a couple of thousand CDs in boxes. I don’t particularly want to keep them. Realistically I only play music through Apple Music. I don’t even own a cd player anymore.

But I would still like some record of them. There is something about having the cases grouped together on bookshelves, and I thought there might be a virtual equivalent to that.

Is there an app or something I could use to catalogue them and remind myself of the genre, album art, track list etc before playing on Apple Music? I find the Apple Music app itself to be truly awful.

You might want to look for a cataloguing app like discogs. There's a few about, I don't know which one will suit you best.

Have you thought about creating a piece of art using the cover art? You could create it digitally by just searching the album online and then taking a thumbnail sized image of it. Then put them all together and have it printed? It could be a nice way to remember the albums.
