DD2 has arrived in Spain for her year abroad at a Spanish university and is going through the nightmarish world of registering for a foreign identity card etc.
It is impossible to get an appt and each office says something different.
Anyway, she is dealing with it, but one problem she has come across is that her visa does not have an NIE number on it, but her UK friends’ visas do. Does anyone know why this could be the case? She now needs to get an NIE before she does anything else.
From what I can see, the visa is separate from the NIE, so I’m hoping she doesn’t need to get the visa reissued and just needs to get an NIE number first.
No idea how people are meant to be able to do this within 30 days of arriving when it is impossible to get an appt or speak to anyone.
