What presents have been unexpected hits with your DC?

Inspired by the most random thread running at the moment, it made me think of things I had got for DC an afterthought or that had been bought for him that he absolutely loved.

mine are:
magnet tiles - they have had so much use and come out for every play date. His older cousins love them too.

self inking stampers - he adores these and we take them when we go on holiday etc as they don’t use up much space and can be used wherever.

a Brio style railway set that comes in a box but the box and box lid actually forms part of the railway, it comes with trains and little removable “loads” as well as signs, a pretty clever little track which involves hills and bridges and a few other bits. It packs away neatly and you can change the configuration and he absolutely loves it - plays with it on its own as well as with the rest of his Brio/wooden track.

A head torch - novelty value at first, then very useful as they get older (camping, sleepovers, residential etc).
