What bread do you use? How toasted do you like it? Best toppings?

Thick white bread toasted under the grill until just the right side of burnt. Real butter and a good thick cut marmalade.

BookHereNoFee · 19/09/2023 20:09

The tiger loaf or white bloomer from Aldi, toast it and use room temp real salted butter. Also run your plate under the hot tap and dry it just before dishing up the toast keeps toast warmer for longer.

I could eat soft boiled eggs on buttered seeded toast every day of my life.

Otherwise good brown bread toasted lightly with butter and set honey 😊

FishPie2 · 19/09/2023 20:27

I do my toast in the Air Fryer using M and S seeded Sour dough bread.

autienotnaughty · 19/09/2023 20:28

Uncut sour dough bloomer. Medium thickness. Almost burnt, left to cool slightly. Thick layer of butter on top.

dontforgetme · 19/09/2023 20:41

Tiger bread, well done but not burnt, left to cool slightly, butter and jam.

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby · 19/09/2023 22:03

Either gluten free warburtons or gluten free farmhouse loaf. Usually done till it's pretty burnt and left to cool slightly before putting a thick layer of butter on it I really miss normal bread lightly toasted with the butter on whilst it was still hot

youngestisapsycho · 19/09/2023 22:04

Grilled and well done, left to go cold, hard Lurpak from the fridge 😋

ISeeARedDoorAndIWantToBreakIn · 19/09/2023 22:06

Supermarket own brand thickly sliced toasting loaf. However, I might be in my own here, but I prefer my toast cold. I leave it to cool down before buttering and adding marmalade.

Soubriquet · 19/09/2023 22:06

Just normal bread in the toaster, golden and then slightly salted butter. Cut into triangles

CheersToMe · 19/09/2023 22:33

Thickly cut slices of bloomer.
Toasted under a gas grill.
Room temperature salted butter.
Marmalade or Marmite.

Too much well done toast on this thread. I like mine done on number 1.5, medium sliced granary lightly buttered with seedless raspberry jam.

Martacus · 20/09/2023 00:15

Sainsbury's sourdough. Soft salted butter and marmalade. Butter always soft, and the proper stuff!

MeinKraft · 20/09/2023 00:20

I like Hovis Granary toasted to a golden brown with butter, sliced tomatoes and salt and pepper.

LegArmpits · 20/09/2023 00:32

Wang it in the toaster, up it pops, slap some butter on. Bob's your uncle.

I used to, but lightly toasted gluten free bread is rank!! Now I have to toast mine on 3 or 4

youngestisapsycho · 20/09/2023 11:01

No 7 for me 😆

Toast bread of choice to desired colour.
Slash toast and slather in butter.
Let butter soak in and then add more butter

MoonWoman69 · 05/04/2024 12:37

@youngestisapsycho Ooh a 7 for me too!
Now crumpets, that's a different matter, they'd be a definite 2 bordering 1!
