When did you start to need reading glasses?

I've never worn glasses and my eyesight appears to be perfectly fine at the moment but I'm 40 next year and aware that at some point my eyesight will start to deteriorate.

I'm just curious to know when others began to need some assistance with reading?

TIA

48 and I put that down to 12-18 months of wfh and solely laptop use (no space for other monitor) which escalated the eventual need for them

It hit me one morning on my way to work when I was about 42. Suddenly I couldn't read the newspaper so easily. But the optician said that I probably noticed it sooner than most people would have done because all my working life was either reading or writing. Presbyopia hits almost everyone during their 40s because the muscles in the eye begin to lose their elasticity.
