The pyramid jacket? The shades? Get into The Groove? The bra and men's boxer shorts??? So cool

Get Into The Groove has been my song this evening. I still know all of the words! I was just thinking of Madonna when she first came to New York, when she was with Jellybean.

The heeled boots!

Siobhan Fahey
That’s who Madonna copied her look from at that time.

Debbie Harry was very sexy looking.

Housewife2010 · 17/09/2023 00:57

Debbie Harry was cooler - much better singer, better music & far better looking too.

Rockbird · 17/09/2023 01:00

Yep, Debbie Harry was and is so much cooler without even trying. Madonna's image has been manufactured from day one. Don't mind her music but cool she isn't.

Newgolddream70 · 17/09/2023 01:10

Loved that film! And yes, she looked cool in that jacket and shades. She owned it! Debbie Harry has to be my favourite tho - in her yellow Vultures t shirt and bin liner 'gilet' (Union City Blue?).

Debbie Harry was way cooler

but Madonna was always pushing the boundaries and it was certainly entertaining for a good 15 years

I loved that film so quirky. And yes to the day I have the same birthday and year with Madonna. There ends the resemblance. Also Adrian quinn was brilliant in that movie.

And SF is as cool now as she was then.

Christie Hynde, Vivienne Westwood, Debbie Harry

She was early 80s cool. By 2007, she was turning up 2 hours late and yelling at her audience for not feeling the vibe NOT cool. Now she's just a bit of a dick.

Agree she was very cool in that film and in general. I don’t think her first look (the Desperately Seeking Susan image) was manufactured either - that was just the look she wore as a cool young woman in early 80s NY.

It’s a great film, I might have to watch it again!

I was 5 when that film came out. I obviously didn't see it and wasn't even aware of Madonna yet, but I clearly remember seeing clips and photos of her in it, and thinking she was the coolest person I'd ever seen!
