Random TV binge watches

I didn’t know what to call this, but I’ve just started watching NYPD Blues on Disney+ - I’d never heard of it but it was suggested for me and I am loving it. Really 90s throwback stuff but really watchable.

Anyone else found an oldie that has gripped them (need a list for the winter nights)

I was looking through Disney + earlier and saw some great older series on there like Criminal Minds, which I'll be binging soon.

MustGetOutofBed · 16/09/2023 19:55

I think NYPD Blue has 12 series, so it'll keep you going for a while!
My favourite oldies are ER and The West Wing.

GroomedForSerfdom · 16/09/2023 19:55

Thank you! I had no idea NYPD Blue was in Disney plus - it was one of my favourite shows in the 90s, I'm really going to enjoy re-watching. It was pretty groundbreaking at the time.

The mentalist. I love Cho and his dry humour

IvorTheEngineDriver · 16/09/2023 21:08

I did all 9 series of Brokenwood back to back (with breaks to pee, eat and sleep).

PsychoHotSauce · 16/09/2023 21:11

Back when lovefilm used to post you rental dvds, I watched the first 10 seasons of dallas. It started in 1978 and I was born in 1988 Grin

I stopped after the dream season though.

Oh thanks for the recommendations - I have done ER (twice) and West Wing but keen to know about Brokenwood? Never heard of it so will have a google

Not an oldie, but I binged on Trainwreck: Woodstock 99. It was just 3 episodes about the total disaster that was Woodstock 99. Really fascinating. On Netflix.

peacock2 · 16/09/2023 21:21

I'm still working through all the old Silent Witness. I find them oddly comforting. Blush

Icepinkeskimo · 16/09/2023 21:21

Prime Suspect, literally have just binge watched it.

User19543785 · 16/09/2023 21:22

I worked my way through House on Prime recently

Emmaemmeline · 16/09/2023 21:23

911 , on Disney
there’s also 911 Lone Star ( not quite as good , but worth a watch )

DarkSpark · 16/09/2023 21:23

I binged Bodies on Netflix recently after not having watched it when it was first out.
Slightly lower than usual 'well that would never happen' ratio from me than I normally make DH ensure when we watch medical dramas as well.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 16/09/2023 21:30

NYPD Blue was brilliant.

MustGetOutofBed · 16/09/2023 21:43

Just thought of another oldie; the original UK version of House of Cards. Ian Richardson as Francis Urquhart (sp?) was chilling!

disappointed101 · 16/09/2023 22:45

5 bedrooms on iplayer. Binge watched very quickly

Catsmere · 17/09/2023 05:16

I've just binged twice in a row on series 4 onwards of MASH!

Andywarholswig · 17/09/2023 12:28

So many great recommendations Thankyou all. where was prime suspect @Icepinkeskimo pls - read the books and loved them!

Husband and I just finished an ER binge, our first proper rewatch although I had seen it all as it aired and he had seen a couple of series. We started it in January and finished it about a month ago and although it did start to feel like a bit of a slog but getting it finished felt like a real achievement (which says a lot about my actual achievements this year 😆)

Whenwillthewashingend · 17/09/2023 13:21

I'm really late to the party, but I've recently started Grey's Anatomy. Nearly done 3 seasons, and totally get the hype.
