Lucy Letby appeal

1000 replies

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 16/09/2023 07:33

Sorry if not allowed to discuss here but just seem that this vile creature plans to appeal against her original sentence as per yesterday’s news. Her defence team is leading this potential appeal.

WTAF?!

They haven’t reached a verdict on is it 6 or 7 poor other little babies who died and she’s suspected, I thought?

So sad for the poor parents and babies still.

One neonatal consultant, one.

Robertius · 23/09/2023 15:21

Right. One of the key recommendations of this report was to launch an investigation of every single death and “near miss”.

When the police were involved and expert witnesses brought in to investigate the deaths and near misses, it became apparent that a killer was at work - that two of the babies were poisoned with insulin, that many other babies were attacked using air injected into their vascular system or attacked in other ways. One poor baby was found to have a ruptured liver - similar to what the medical expert had previously seen in a car crash.

let’s be clear - that ward - like many wards in the NHS had staffing issues - and was too busy - but none of that explains why perfectly healthy babies dropped dead - which is why the report recommends proper investigation of each individual baby case.

That investigation was eventually done - and we know the result - Lucy Letby was found to have been murdering and attacking the babies!

One neonatal consultant, one.

Seven paediatricians.

One neonatal consultant, one.

Not relevant to the issue of LL's guilt or innocence. If they'd had 20 neonatal consultants, that wouldn't have prevented insulin from being injected into babies' feeds.

Robertius · 23/09/2023 15:56

It’s interesting - the report had many recommendations in respect of certain issues at the neonatal unit.

But none of those issues related to the skills / specialisms of the Consultants on the ward. They are all paediatricians with one consultant having a special interest in neonatology.

The only issue raised about the Consultants Group in terms of staffing is that they required to recruit two more Consultants.

ItstimeToMoveagain · 23/09/2023 16:06

It doesn't matter how many they had when they were being ignored when they realised concerns about her

And nurses aren't stupid, they don't accidently over feed, inject insulin , air, shatter diaphragms and damage livers regardless of how many consultants there are

BIossomtoes · 23/09/2023 16:06

This is just getting ridiculous now. Why didn’t the defence produce this report as evidence and call its authors as expert witnesses if its findings are relevant? As soon as one spurious argument goes down in flames another is produced.

MartinChuzzlewit · 23/09/2023 16:09

978q · 21/09/2023 11:54

It wasn't thoroughly examined, the NI report was never entered into evidence, you knowing so much about the trial would know that, there again probably not...you will need a big napkin to wipe the egg coming your way.

The only defence witness was the plumber who spoke about the sewage.

Lucy Letby had an excellent defence team. Some of the best in the country. Do you think they need to come onto MN to find ways to defend their client? No - there’s a reason they couldn’t submit that as evidence.

MartinChuzzlewit · 23/09/2023 16:13

I saw a funny post elsewhere on the internet with lists of babies who had died without explanation and "Lucy Letby wasn't there" next to them.

Sounds hysterical Hmm

MartinChuzzlewit · 23/09/2023 16:14

BIossomtoes · 21/09/2023 13:04

No evidence of insulin, no evidence of death by air embolism, no evidence of over feeding

What was the jury listening to for ten months? If you want to be taken seriously for God’s sake don’t try deny facts to do it, even Letby’s defence didn’t do that.

It’s so ridiculous. Babies spewing out milk must have been in LL’s imagination 🙄

HazelE123 · 21/09/2023 21:27

I think I just find it frustrating that it's not more cut and dried. With Wayne Couzens he was caught on camera doing something and there was lots of evidence. It was clearcut.

If Lucy Letby did it it's horrific. If it's a mistake, it's horrific - the idea an innocent person could be incarcerated for life. Maybe something will turn up that will make things more cut and dried - whether it's another piece of evidence that proves it in a more clear cut way or disproves it in a more clearcut way.

Edited

The rape and murder was not on CCTV though

gloria1980 · 21/09/2023 22:05

Is it possible that no crimes were committed at all.

No

itsgettingweird · 23/09/2023 16:18

A little research on consultants and what specialities mean would really help some people!

My sons paediatric neurologist was (only because he's now an adult) a paediatric consultant with special interest in epilepsy.

Oh and reader please note - he's not epileptic!

It's like we have a GP who specialises to woman's gynae. She's still a GP and can see cases of tonsillitis etc!

MartinChuzzlewit · 23/09/2023 16:27

978q · 22/09/2023 11:14

The RHLU clarified that they had no facility to carry out the tests quoted by Dr Milan, its employee, she quoted insulin levels that would have killed an adult, no babies died of insulin poisoning.

The defence itself conceded that the babies DID die of insulin poisoning

I wonder why it’s been taken down? Because if that was all true the CQC would have closed the unit down. I call bollocks on it.

Be fair @BIossomtoes it was on Facebook so it must be true 🤣

I’m seriously worried about your reading ability. Can’t you see where it says ‘seven’ in the picture you yourself posted

can't help you there, if you don't understand the singularity of one in a particular discipline, so be it.

It did.

Mr Myers refers to the case of Child F.
He discusses the counts of insulin in general - for Child F and Child L.
He says the prosecution referred to Letby's 'concessions' of the insulin results. He says the defence reject she has committed an offence for those two counts.
