Insomnia ponderings

Going through a tough time at the moment so sleep is not happening much. Wondering what random thoughts you all have pop into your heads in the early hours when you can't sleep? Last night I ended up pondering what I would call a big ass GoT type dragon if I had one......Derek by the way.

I've always struggled with getting to sleep, because I’m always overthinking "Well how does just drifting into sleep work? I’m really tired but how can it just go from all my thoughts to cutting out?! How can I not know when it's about to happen?" Part of the reason I've been prescribed Zolpidem for over 20 years, combined with Amitriptyline now I’m out before I can form a mental sentence. It's a relief.
But when I’m absolutely exhausted and try to nap in the day I know I’m about to conk out when my thoughts and mental images get really weird, for example, suddenly being able to clearly picture goats in brightly coloured tutu skirts standing on their back legs like people (just a random one I remember) and other really weird situations, I let myself go with it and then I just go without trying to measure it.

But who would put the tutus on the goats?
This is how my mind works. It's either that or it's deep dark thoughts and to be honest I'd much rather the random crap.

Well on Thursday night I ended up pondering if you can make pastry with olive oil, ( DH on a low saturated fat diet). Ended up looking up recipes and it turns out you can, made a very nice apple pie yesterday and I'll be able to make mince pies he can have at Christmas.
Usually I end up going over worries and petty grievances so this was much better.
