How on earth does she think that's going to go?

Lucy Letby to appeal

(MSN link from the Telegraph)

I can't see what grounds she would have after a 10 month trial with all the evidence against her. And who would take her on as a client?

It has everything to do with it, if she were to have her sentence quashed, the taxpayer will pay her compensation.

There is nothing automatic about getting compensation for a wrongful conviction. It's explained in part here. In addition, the claimant has to prove loss. Even in the highly unlikely event that Letby got some or even most of her convictions overturned, she would not be able to prove loss because she would still be subject to a whole life prison term for the rest.

It is also irrelevant to the issue of NHS insurance arrangements, as the NHS wouldn't be paying compensation, the MoJ would.

I havent heard the word Facultative since the early 90s🤣 its not a word you hear in everyday language.
My career has changed a bit over the years.
Surely its not the NHS that will pay compensation if LL appeals and wins it woukd come out of the Miscarriage of justice fund
