Apparently the biggest news story of the year is going to break over the weekend

It’s all overTwitter, or X as it’s now called. One of the Sunday papers is working on a massive story and all staff weekend leave has been cancelled. Channel 4 is showing an episode of ‘Dispatches’ tomorrow night at 9pm but haven’t said what it’s about and lots of people are putting two and two together and saying it’s in conjunction with the following days papers.

"The Mirror understands the documentary is set to highlight bad behaviour by an A-list household name. The contents of the Dispatches, which will discuss a number of celebrities in the industry, is said to be potentially hugely damaging"

Melissamelisante · 15/09/2023 19:52

A number of celebrities eh?

madamreign · 15/09/2023 19:52

@VeloVixen

The Boris thing would be way more sensitive than some tedious sex scandal

TGGreen · 15/09/2023 19:53

Sets an alarm for 3pm labelled The Times...

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 15/09/2023 19:53

How do we know it's only about comedians? They could be linked to more very powerful people - as with Jimmy Savile.

When SC was first mentioned, I was sure I had who he was - especially with the 'fund a mentalist' clue, albeit not a comedian. But apparently it's the other (comedian) SC, and nothing to do with 'talent' at all.

Also, loads of people saying about RB. Whilst it wouldn't surprise me in the least about THAT RB, there's also been a load of ongoing rumour about a different RB - island-dwelling billionaire.

Very good point about Mr Harrods. Didn't Mark Williams-Thomas recently say that there was going to be big news about him coming out very soon? Interesting, especially with all the people he was linked to during his life.

AliciaLime · 15/09/2023 19:53

Is RB actually A list from a TV perspective now? I thought he was more podcast / conspiracy theorist / YouTube ‘guru’ type now.

Much ado about nothing, methinks.

Is that a clue??

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 15/09/2023 19:54

This could take 90 mins.

It's a few centuries too late now to be exposing Shakespeare!

Livelovebehappy · 15/09/2023 19:55

That’s my Saturday night viewing sorted…….

RoseAndRose · 15/09/2023 19:55

VeloVixen · 15/09/2023 19:50

If it’s sensitive that sounds like sexual misconduct then rather than Boris and Chinese spies. Or Russian ones.

Well they've already done "Boris, the Lord and the Russian Spies"

ladeluge · 15/09/2023 19:56

I'm sick of this celebrity shite now. Non celebrities cause just as much havoc unseen and rarely hyped up for a Dispatches investigation. On the assumption that it is a sex scandal/me too issue.

Unless it rocks the foundations of the State it will not matter to most apart from a days gossip.

HuwEdwardsBottom · 15/09/2023 19:56

So it is about a Celeb then? But who? And it must be pretty serious to warrant a 90 minute documentary on Saturday prime time.

You don't need to look at The Times - just look for the MN thread called "Was that it?"

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 15/09/2023 19:57

When I first read about the big expose on a comedian, I did wonder for a moment if there was going to be a grossly inaccurate and wholly trumped-up hit piece against Glinner, orchestrated by angry TRAs.

Differentstarts · 15/09/2023 19:58

Could be about sexual assaults within the nhs, there was a small article about it the other day but never massively went in to detail

PureAmazonian · 15/09/2023 19:59

LittleObe · 15/09/2023 14:16

It's the NHS surgeons being rapists. Relax.

Definitely this

WickerGirl · 15/09/2023 20:00

If it's Bob M I will absolutely volunteer to go with the aliens.

sep135 · 15/09/2023 20:01

I don't wish bad things to people on the whole but there'd be a certain karma if it included a U.S. chat show presenter that's recently returned to the UK and is very particular about omelettes.

Everdeen80 · 15/09/2023 20:01

IF it’s true that the Sunday times is about to run a huge piece in tandem with Dispatches - there is absolutely no way it’s about some random comedian being a twat. It will be about a major major royal family member (not prince andrew - basically has to be William, Harry, Charles or I suppose Catherine) or politician, and the ensuing cover up which other high profile people were involved in.

sexual assaults within the nhs is obviously an awful story. However that has already begun to be exposed.

my guess is royal family but might be wrong of course!

MrTiddlesTheCat · 15/09/2023 20:02

I think this is something bigger than any of us are thinking. If you look at the Dispatches website you'll see that none of their previous investigations have been given this amount of time. Boris Johnson breaching security to hang out with Russian spies only got 48 minutes. Likewise their undercover ambulance NHS chaos report. The battle for Kharkiv 47 minutes. etc

This report is bigger than all of them.

VeloVixen · 15/09/2023 20:03

Maybe Boris is a spy 🤷‍♀️

I wouldn't have thought so, there's nothing on him. I think even the TRAS would be hardpressed to bring convincing lies about him to a dispatches program.

I would agree but unusual that The Mirror is saying

"A British celebrity was in crisis mode last night as Channel 4 prepared to air a documentary which could end their career."

They clearly don't think it's a member of the Royal Family
