Hoover Meltdown

I didn't know where to post this.
We are a family of 6 - 4 girls with long hair, carpets, a dog.
I have had 2 Miele C3 which have both died, a Henry (hated it), a heavy Dyson ball style, and have just (wasted my money) bought a Miele cx1 bagless which is about as powerful as sucking through a straw!
Recommendations pleeeeeease for a good quality, good suction, says what it does on the tin, not flimsy and cheap plasticy hoover. Preferable with a cord as I know that the resident teenagers will find it FAR to difficult to put the battery on charge.

Thank you ..

I've stopped battling with the vacuum cleaner's and hair. It's a fruitless struggle.

Instead I bought a rubber bristle sweeping brush. Brush up all the hair, then vacuum general dirt/dust. It's been a game changer!

Admittedly a little more elbow grease but much better than frequently blowing up vacuum cleaners. Our latest one has lived for an astonishing 3 years.

Mines a couple of years old now and looking on the Shark website its been superceeded by this one: Shark Anti Hair Wrap Upright Pet Vacuum [NZ690UKT] .

tescocreditcard · 14/09/2023 18:22

What about a robot hoover. You could send that round 2 or 3 times a day if you wanted

I got this one a few weeks ago and love it. Miles better than my Dyson and better than my corded Sebo cat and dog.

RedHelenB · 14/09/2023 19:19

What's wrong with a Henry? Hated Shark, there were so many bits to take out a.d clean and it was always losing suction

Festivalmitch · 15/09/2023 06:46

@RedHelenB i find Henry’s heavy, clunky, don’t like the lack of accessories and on my experience they tend to smell 😳

Shark anti hair wrap!

theemmadilemma · 15/09/2023 08:47

I love my Shark Corded Stick Pet/Hair Hoover. I have long hair, two big dogs, one who likes to destroy footballs down to string...

Best hoover I've had.

Festivalmitch · 16/09/2023 16:11

well!!! I’ve bought the shark anti hair wrap - it is amazing!! I actually feel sick having just hoovered my kids bedrooms (which I hoovered with the Miele on Thursday). The dust tank is full..!!!!
so thank you for your recommendations 😍😍

I've got a shark anti hair wrap corded. The one that comes apart to be a handheld and it's great. Only has a tint dust container so needs emptying very regularly but it's easy to empty. It does occasionally get blocked but it's very simple to take apart, unblock and put back together so not a problem, unlike other hoovers I've had that need some kind of degree and tools I don't have to get round all the bends and into all the bits that block up.

VeloVixen · 16/09/2023 16:18

Same when we got ours. Dh had hoovered downstairs with the sebo two days before but I filled the tank in the Shark!

PlipPlopChoo · 16/09/2023 16:29

A henry works well in my experience but you need to lug it around with you rather than wheel it. Maybe double using one as a weight training session. They are not what I would call heavy.

Aren't mieles any good? That's what I was wanting to buy

I hate mine, it doesn't seem to steer well.
I really wanted to love itConfused

Rake your carpet first. I use one of these: https://amzn.eu/d/9ujB6gh

You probably need to clean the roller brush bit more often

Tortoisetowers · 16/09/2023 18:08

Another vote for shark anti-wrap corded.

I have just got one after having dysons and the crap its getting up from my carpets is unreal!

I agree with this. We had Dysons for ages but dh abhors them, and when the latest one died he put his foot down and ordered the Shark corded. We have two dogs, and they shed so much fur I am surprised they aren’t bald, but the shark copes really well with it. We have fortnightly cleaners who have a Henry, and they prefer using our Shark.

Getoffmyroofbirdsyouwokemeup · 16/09/2023 18:44

Just got a shark Corded one too and so far I'm very impressed. The day I got it I just wanted to keep hoovering 🤣🤣🤣🤣 ashamed to say it filled up the entire canister (can't remember the name) that weekend because our absolute shocking vax battery one was doing fuck all. It had money off too. This was on currys and I'm awaiting the topcashback payment too! X
