DD (18) has had abdominal pain since yesterday afternoon, almost in tears at times overnight but it wasn't constant. GP offered an appointment at 3pm but after discussion advised to go straight to A &E. She has had bloods done abs seem the doc who thinks it might be her appendix, waiting to see surgical team now which could be hours.
It's crazy busy here.

All went well. She was back on the ward messaging me at 1:30.
Surgeon said it was good they caught it early. I have had some terrible experiences at this hospital, my dad was in and out last year and died there of preventable complications before Christmas.
This time everything was great but I was anxious!

Great news, OP.

My DD was back at school two weeks later and that's with quite a sizeable uneven scar (her appendix was badly infected and they had to do flushing out). It doesn't bother her either, ie she'll happily wear a bikini.

I was where you are a few months ago with DS (the same age as your DD).

They might be adults but they're still your baby when you see them in a hospital bed, post-op, hooked up to a drip looking really poorly.

The only issue we had was a mix-up over the antibiotics he was discharged with but after a few phone calls we got it sorted. He also had pain killers for a day or two.

DS recovered well so hopefully your DD will be the same. The worst bit was the fact that he wanted to be back out playing football, going climbing, going out to the pub with his mates etc - he wasn't used to being properly incapacitated!

Dd went to theatre at 11pm and was discharged at 9 this morning! Super fast!!!

She is tired and sore but very glad to be home.

I'm so glad it's all gone well. My DC2 was operated on at 10 pm and allowed home at 2 pm the following day, but that's because they didn't come out of the GA all that well. Had a good recovery though.

Glad everything worked out OP, hope your DD is back to her usual self very soon.
My DD had appendicitis a couple of years ago. It was frightening, but all went fine and she recovered really well. Thankfully we caught ours early too - there was a girl in the bed next to us who had a burst appendix and her story was very different

Glad it went well and she is back home. She will be right as rain in no time 😊
