DS' girlfriend has moved continents, I'm so sad.

He's on the spectrum and isn't very sociable at all. He struggles to make friends.

He's had a GF 3 years, she asked him out as he's very shy. They mostly hung around at school/college. They probably only met outside of school 5 times.
It was a very sweet, innocent relationship.

He got a letter from Malaysia yesterday from her and I asked if she was visiting family/holiday but she's gone home.

He didn't think to tell me! (Very typical of him!)

He doesn't know if she's coming back, he said she might for university.

I'm just so sad for him, he was always on the phone to her and getting her little presents. He cared about her alot and any socialising he did was with her.

He has friends but they're very much based online.

I'm worried he won't really find another connection (platonic or romantic) again easily.

With technology these days I'm sure they can chat via facetime and keep messaging as they have for the last few years.

Really sad for him - but take the positives - he has been able to form a caring close relationship, he will do so again. It sounds like he’s still at school so only young - he has plenty of time. As I’m sure you are doing- offer what support he asks for, keep talking but don’t ask too many questions about how he is ( I do this, generally they get fed up and shut down further) build what you can gently into his life and keep being the great mum it sounds like you are

Yes, I think they will definitely stay in contact but the majority of his friends are based online so I was really happy that he had her in real life.

I'm worried he will be sitting alone at college now as he was always with her but don't want to ask as he will think that I think he has no friends, if that makes any sense!
