Living in Denbigh? Or other recommendations in Notth Wales please!

We are moving to North Wales, and have seen a nice house in Denbigh. What’s the area like please? And the schools?

Or are there any other recommendations or nice places in North Wales please?

The wishlist is:

  • rural/semi rural
  • pretty!
  • ideally a Welsh speaking area, we are coming from the south, the children are bilingual and I don’t want them to lose their Welsh.
  • within 45 mins of Llandudno for work

I have never visited Denbigh, it looks nice on paper but most places do! Viewing next week hopefully.

What I have seen of Denbigh the two times I have been is nice though so definitely worth checking out :)

Denbigh’s nice. Personally for 45
mins from Llandudno I’d go for the Conwy Valley, perhaps around Llanrwst or Dolgarrog, which are an easy drive to Llandudno, or even as far as Penmachno (which is gorgeous but would probably be a bit of an annoying commute as the roads aren’t so good). The scenery is spectacular and there are probably an even higher proportion of Welsh speakers than in Denbigh. Denbigh might be a bit better off as an area, though. It’s a while since I’ve been.

Thank you! Hoping not to go tooooo far into the sticks as I don’t want to be too isolated. Rural place, middle of nowhere but 10 mins from town is the ideal!

Anyone know anything about local schools please?

Ten minutes from town. What will you need from town. How old are the children?

If you need ten minutes from town, how about the area around Bangor? University, bit of culture…

But I’m biased as I have links to Conwy/Gwynedd and love that area. Know the old Clwyd a lot less well but have a friend in Denbigh and it is very nice so you might be better off there.

Local schools are very good. Welsh language primary school in Denbigh and a high school in StAsaph 10 minutes away.
