Tea shortage?

RoxyMoosic · 13/09/2023 21:45

PG Tips specifically.

I’ve been to 3 Tescos and an Asda. Just while passing. There’s not even been a space of the shelf. No big boxes or small boxes. Nothing at all.

Is there a shortage I’m unaware of or just my local area?Confused

There was plenty of Earl Grey in the supermarket yesterday, not sure about PG Tips.

Ahh. It's hard enough to get tea in the US without a shortage as well 😂 Good thing I have flights for a visit home soon - I'll fill my suitcase!

Stressybetty · 03/11/2023 02:40

Stopped buying PG as so many of the biodegradable pyramid bags kept splitting. If they've ditched them it's good news at least. On Tetley now so hoping there's no shortage of that

Tea is tea whatever the label.

Iris1976 · 03/11/2023 02:41

I only drink pG and I've only got about 15 teabags left 😭

Ponderingwindow · 03/11/2023 02:46

WTH is full fat tea?

NewtonPulsifer · 03/11/2023 03:34

just bought a massive bag from Staples for the office, lots of stock there.

Tea is tea whatever the label.

I'm currently drinking small batch purple wild tea from Yunnan.

Tea is not tea.

TBH that's after a whole pot of PG Tips in the morning or I'm a bastard. Any shortage may cause a divorce.

snackprovidersupreme · 03/11/2023 04:08

Clipper is my favourite now. I like that the bags aren't dyed white and don't contain plastic - we switched when I found out most tea bags have plastic in them. I'm a tea addict and didn't like the thought of all the stewed plastic I was drinking 😅 Plus they can go in the food waste.

We stock up when they are on offer.

Rowgtfc72 · 03/11/2023 04:22

Just switched from PG tips last weekend. I think they've gone really downhill. Never taste strong enough.
Dd tells me they've switched to Yorkshire tea at work from PG. Small box was on offer in Iceland. Hated the first cup but half a box down now and it's much stronger than PG.

MaxTaid · 03/11/2023 09:01

Non decaffeinated = full fat tea . Although not being the extra strong variant might make that debatable? I guess I could call extra strong gold lid , ( for those of us old enough to remember milk man delivery options ) but there was a gold variant as well …. Ahhh. Colloquialism can be so damn complicated if one insists on complete logical consistency…. Clearly I’ve not had any tea yet this morning :(

Soos125 · 04/11/2023 16:10

I’ve switched to Sainsbury’s Red Label too. Tried Tetley but didn’t like them

Planttreeseverywhere · 04/11/2023 16:21

If you do not like tea bags, you know loose leaf exists right? It takes 1 second to dump leaves in the bin and you avoid single use packaging entirely. They have us duped.

relaxedyetalert1995 · 05/11/2023 17:10

Perhaps Lipton will slowly bring back old variants of PG with the square bag? I'm not a fan of the new square bags. Ironic how the pyramid bag was one of PG's main trademarks and is now gone. I stockpiled on 160 bags of the pyramids which will expire in a year. I suppose it was a good change because i was reminded that these eco friendly bags leak the tea leaves unlike the square one. I do say I will miss the pyramid bags. ;(

Teateaandmoretea · 05/11/2023 18:02

Sainsbury’s red label is totally the nicest tea. I’m glad to see it has some more fans on here. Just bought a big box this afternoon 👍🏻

MachineBee · 05/11/2023 18:05

I love the biodegrade pyramid PG bags as they really do decompose in the compost heap.

I like the tea too. I’ll be gutted if I can’t get hold of them anymore.

interestingly by last purchase of them was a large box in the centre aisle of Lidl. I hope that wasn’t because they are being discontinued.
