Lazy journalists

I just commented on another thread that a newspaper (this time the Daily Express) had made a news article out of a Mumsnet post and see that this often happens with other newspapers, such as the Daily Mail.

I note that they refer to the Mumsnet poster by quoting their user name. This got me thinking that if ever I make a post that is likely to be picked up by lazy journalists, I should change my user name to something like 'fuckoffyoulazyjournalists'.

Do you think that they would even notice, or would they simply say that on Mumsnet, fuckoffyoulazyjournalist said......?

People do that all the time and it makes no difference. They're quite capable of editing/Redacting) and cropping posts/user names so that it isn't an issue for them.

Loads of people have had "fuckoffdailymail" usernames.

They just get quoted as "a poster said" and make themselves look like those people who think by copying and pasting "I don't give Facebook permission to..." they stop FB harvesting their organs or whatever it is they think FB does.

Best not to write scurrilous, stupid, or exaggerated posts if you don't want to end up in the paper tbh.
