Wrong returns label on parcel

I am a muppet. Managed to take a parcel to an Evri drop off with a Royal Mail returns label on. It is no longer at the Evri drop off (was 12 days ago) and has been picked up by the driver. Is it lost forever? Gutted as ££ in the parcel!

It wasn't scanned and recorded in the usual way when I dropped it off at the shop as their machine was broken. Otherwise, we would have realised the wrong label was on it!

Oh arse.

I sent back two parcels via the post office, the type when you have qr code and they print out the labels for you. I got an email a week later from pour moi to say my package had H&M dresses inside. I asked them to forward them on but they didn’t, and H&M couldn’t help locate the bikinis I’d send back so lost my money.

I thinks you’ll have to chalk it up to experience

Kicking myself pretty hard!

Surely it can't be picked up if it didn't have paid postage on it? Have you checked with the drop off point?

Did you put your address on as the return address?

Shop-based Evri points usually have a big sack of parcels-to-go-out. Normally you'd only drop your parcel in after checking it in on the machine or with the proprietor. So it'll have been picked up just for being in the sack.

Yes this is what has happened. I do not think my return address would have been on there.

No, they wouldn't. They could have legally returned it to you, if you accepted liability if it didn't make it back to you, but there was no way they'd sent it on to a third-party and become part of that chain.

It's really bad luck but I think this pretty much ends any chances of it getting back to you. Evri could drop it in the post, but I suspect it's more likely to end up in their rejected/lost parcels and get sold at auction.
