Handhold - hideous night with toddler

Is anyone else awake? I'm on my knees with my 18 month old. There is nothing wrong with her, she just wants to be held in the rocking chair all night. At my wits end.

@bakewellbride Im awake, for once not because of my 11.5 month old wanting to be rocked. So i know what you are going through. Is she a bad sleeper normally or is this just one of those nights?

SofiaAmes · 13/09/2023 02:18

Why don't you just bring her to bed with you? It won't ruin her. My dd slept in my bed until she was 15. She is a well adjusted 21 year old in her last year of university.

Thanks for your response. She previously did used to sleep through the night which was bliss. But the last few weeks things have been really bad at night and I'm just exhausted. My eldest will wake up in a few hours and I'm dreading it.

Bringing her into my bed isn't an option

I know it sounds weird but i can see why its torturing you as i imagine baby sleeping through would be amazing. Unfortunately my lo has never done it, he fights sleep like its the devil😂So to suddenly be faced with it after that bliss would be hard. handhold and heres hoping its just a development leap which throws everything out of whack for the short term

@Devilsmommy thank you so much for the support. I'm sorry to hear you're having a rough time of it. It's just awful being this tired, I hate it and 100% won't be having any more babies.

My 4 year old just woke me up to get in our bed. Apparently his 'arms hurt', so now he and his dad are snoring and I'm wide awake

He's come into our bed the last 3 nights, I'm hoping it's because he's just started school. I've had barely any sleep and am on my knees with tiredness.

Devilsmommy · 13/09/2023 02:57

@bakewellbride to be fairim used to the broken sleep now, was never a great sleeper anyway. im only up tonight because of severe toothache and id rather be dealing with the baby than that. like yourself, i will not be having any more either😂

I remember having some awful nights with my toddler around that age, he slept beautifully from about 6 months then it all changed!
I’d often have to sit with him in the chair too, but then got a fold out mattress so I could lay next to him and hold his hand in the cot, and also get some sleep then myself which helped.
It was on & off for a few months but got better around 22 months and has been back to sleeping through most nights since, he’s now nearly 3.
I’m actually up with him now but he has a nasty cough so it’s understandable, I’m back to laying on the floor holding his hand, having just come from a night feed with the 3 month old 😫as they say ‘it will pass’!! Hope it gets better for you soon x
