The Smokey Robinson one is also correct but already guessed .

As there are no further guesses on mine, 2 was A-Ha - Manhattan skyline and 8 was Beautiful South - Good as gold (stupid as mud).

The connection was that the songs title was only mentioned in the lyrics once.

Good connection - would never have got that .
