Celebrity names in private..

Do you ever wonder (or actually know) what celebs (proper ones not YouTubers!) are referred to in the comfort of their own homes /in the company of family and friends?
Don't actually know any and am intrigued!
Is Sting still Sting or Gordon? Lady Gaga just Steph? Pink really isn't Pink!.. Any idea people?

I have a moderately successful nom de plume for books. I use my real name in private and my nom de plume at events where people know me as that. I'd imagine it's the same for proper celebs.

Boris Johnson is apparently always Al to his family, as his first name is Alexander.

I went out someone who had a stage name for a couple of years.

Anyone who only knew him in the context of his career used his stage name and we referred to him by that name too to them or no one knew who we were talking about. They all thought they knew him really well and would talk about his stage personality as though it were him. Some had been 'friends' with him for years too. The real him was about as far removed from that as it was possible to be. They really were two different people.

The rest of the time, we just used his name because, well, that was his name. They're not a 'celebrity' at home. They're just John, or whoever, who shuffles around in his dressing gown on a Sunday and puts the bins out once a week like everyone else.

I'm surprised anyone would need that explaining to them tbh!

I don't think Elton John is Reg at home.

I don't think Elton John is Reg at home.

I reckon that Bernie still calls him Reg.

I sincerely hope so, anyway.

@Ameanstreakamilewide me too

I have a family member that is a UK level celeb (soaps and theatre not big films). Family and old friends tend to use their birth name, friends made since they started using a stage name use that instead.

I think Frank Skinner's family still call him Chris.
