Find a UK address?

Can anyone tell me how I can find the address for free of a former work colleague? They live in the UK and I’ve heard they have had a bereavement. We only ever exchange the odd text to say hello. She replied to a text I sent to her last week by telling me her parents had passed away within days of each other and she was devastated. That was it, nothing else. I have replied to her but I’d like to send a condolence letter. She is a very private person and kept her personal life very much to herself. I am in the UK, actually not far from the town she lives in. I just have no idea whereabouts.

If she's ex directory I'm not sure you'll be able to.

Alternatively, could you ask HR to send something on your behalf?

If she is on the Open electoral register [I'm registered to vote, but not on the open list so as to avoid junk mail etc] you can search this easily online.
It helps if she has a not too common name.
I just tried it out and found my husband, who is on the Open register, very quickly. He has a common name and it helped that I knew exactly which 'John Smith' he is of the four in our postcode.
