Restlessness after sex

Regular poster but name changed with problem that has plagued me for years but is getting worse.
I wasn’t sure where to put this as it’s not actually a sex problem itself so I put it in chat.
My issue is something I have suffered with for 20plus years - or as long as I have been sexually active- but I get extreme irritability and restlessness immediately after sex/orgasm. It’s a bit like the feeling you get with restless legs, but it affects my whole body and is just awful. It lasts for 2 or more hours after an orgasm and is absolutely horrible. Everytime it happens I vow never to have an orgasm again because it’s just not worth it.

I initially thought it was something that happened to everyone but then I realised that it seems to not be. I was always amazed when people said they feel relaxed after sex and want to go to sleep because I feel the opposite. It is such an awful feeling that I now actively avoid sex, relationships and even masturbation.
The more I chat to close friends about it, the more I realise that this isn’t a normal feeling to have.

Does anyone know why this happens and does anyone suffer from the same?
I feel so angry, irritable and restless after sex that I can’t stand to be around anybody.

help.

If it makes you feel any better I get very restless after sex. Not in the same way but I can't sleep for hours.

Thank you for your reply. I had a read last night of some online articles and papers and it seems to linked to dopamine levels, as restless legs is. The rise during sex and then the drop off can cause this reaction but it seems more prevalent in those with adhd diagnosis.

I think a life without sex is probably going to be the only way.

Try to add magnesium to your diet. It worked for me.

Try asking the doctor if they will prescribe you propanalol. I find it helps with restless legs.
