Need to take a 'live' photo for Australian ETA visa... toddler hell..help!

Today I have been applying for ETA visas for an upcoming trip. This has to be done via an app. Not usually a problem, I've done it before. So far 5/7 family members done.
BUT... during the process you have to have a live photo taken through the app to ensure your face matches your passport. You can't submit a 'not live' photo. The app wants your face 'just so' and even for adults it generally takes us a few tries as you have to hold perfectly still at just the right angle.

2 year old, typical feisty toddler boy. Not known for staying still. We must have tried about 60 times (before my phone gave up and the app froze). We could NOT get him facing the right way AND staying still. The app needs a close up so we tried getting him to look in the mirror, tried him watching the TV, tried holding him, bribing him.. you name it.
ANY suggestions?!!! (Humerous and drastic welcomed...) Luckily we have some time to get this done but all we got today was a furious uncooperative toddler. Sadly I think they have to be awake with eyes open or I'd catch him asleep!

I used to work in max spielman taking photos for kids passports. The kids were 10x better behaved for me than their parents. Could you take them there, pay the fee for their time (it’s about a tenner??) and ask them to do it on your phone?

I had to take my toddler to Timpsons (who now own Max spielman) and it took the poor fella 48 attempts to get a passport pic for my toddler.

Is there anyone else - a nursery carer for example - he's likely to behave for?

OMG you are a genius!!! That might work! I'll google my local Timpsons (do they all do passport photos?) and ask tomorrow!

Have you tried doing it in the car, while he’s strapped in to a car seat?

He doesn't go to Nursery yet.. only 2 and I'm granny care (we do gym, toddler groups etc and a childminder once a week but she has her hands full!) so no-one 'official' if you kwim!

Ohhh, I had to do this recently and it’s hard as an adult. Sympathies!
would blowing bubbles (like bubble mixture with a wand) keep his attention? It worked when my ds had a blood test and the play therapist distracted him.

Would he play a game of statues? Competition to see who can stay still the longest.
