Am in desperate need of inspiration!

What occasion?

NorthernLiner · 11/09/2023 13:09

No occasion really. Just stuck in a bit of a same dinners rut and would like to hear what you all like to eat.

I’ve just scoffed bruschetta using fresh tomatoes from the garden. It’s my favourite starter/lunch

NorthernLiner · 11/09/2023 13:11

Sorry a bit of a rubbish explanation!

Just want to hear what are your favourites for a starter, main, and dessert if you were cooking to suit yourself.

Smoked salmon fishcake and salad to start
aubergine parmigiana with garlic bread for main
dessert would be a fresh fruit salad with creme fraiche but only cos i am diabetic so don't eat cake etc otherwise it would be a lemon tart.

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 11/09/2023 13:12

I'd do either a garlic bread, battered mushrooms or a soup (probably chicken, cheese and maple bacon) with a pretzel roll to start

Main I'd do some kind of lamb or maybe a roast

For desert a cheesecake with pouring cream and ice cream

Chemenger · 11/09/2023 13:17

Starter - tempura oysters with wasabi

Main - liver and onions with chips

Dessert - Pana cotta with cherry compote

(I don’t think I could actually make the starter but it is my favourite in a local restaurant).

Whataretheodds · 11/09/2023 13:18

Sushi or a seafood platter/oysters/smoked salmon
Medium rare steak and chips and a glass of red wine or rare roast beef with trimmings
Tiramisu or very lemony tarte au citron or black forest gateau

Am pregnant, it's mostly about the stuff I can't have just now!

NorthernLiner · 11/09/2023 13:25

See, if it was up to me, feeding myself, it would look something like this
Starter - Kettle Chips Sea Salt & Balsamic Vinegar
Main - Kettle Chips Sweet Chilli & Sour Cream
Dessert - Kettle Chips Mature Cheddar & Red Onion

If I was hosting a Come Dine With Me type evening, I might manage to rustle up
Starter - Greek Salad
Main - Slow Roasted Lamb with Lemon Potatoes
Dessert - Crème Brulee with fresh fruits

I'm like that woman on another thread who can't eat anything for days on end because of painful IBS, so I'd have a very low-fodmappy:

To start: Half a dozen black olives and a slice of pickled beetroot
Main: Plain white rice with a dash of soy sauce and a nuked cherry tomato
To finish: A small cry in the bathroom

Anoushkaka · 11/09/2023 13:39

Breaded garlic mushrooms with garlic dip
Lamb cutlets with roast potatoes and pepper sauce
Malteaser cheesecake

cocksstrideintheevening · 11/09/2023 13:43

In that case-

Mushroom bruschetta
Steak, dauphinois and tender stem broccoli
Strawberries, meringue and crème fraiche

Lansonmaid · 11/09/2023 19:06

For starters - seared scallops with garlic and butter
Main course- steak cooked very rare with frites and a salad, possibly with a little peppercorn sauce
Dessert - decent cheese board with a variety of types - blue cheese, goats/ ewes cheese, tangy cheddar or Wensleydale all served with crackers, sliced apple and grapes

You can have sushi/smoked salmon and rare steak. As long as the steak is piping hot through its fine.

ClandestineAdulation · 11/09/2023 19:15

Starter: grilled peaches with Parma ham and burrata
Main: beef Wellington, roasted baby new potatoes, honey glazed carrots and red wine jus
Dessert: white chocolate fondant and lemon ice cream

😋

Seychal · 11/09/2023 19:16

Classic pate, coarse
Bouillabaisse
French cheeses and fruit

Up to you what you do but I'm following NHS guidelines.

King prawns with salad and a really stinky garlicky sauce that I'll be able to smell on my own skin for the next week.
A platter of smoked meat with a selection of crusty bread and butter.
Lemon cheesecake with fresh berries and a dollop of cream.
