Did anyone see the mad flashing clouds last night?

We're in the Midlands. Last night, just after dusk, we could see a big bank of cloud due west (towards Wales). Then the clouds started flashing... It looked as though the blitz was going on behind the clouds. Flashes all over the place. I assume it was a huge lightening storm hidden by a cloud - but it really looked like someone was carpet bombing the Malvern hills!

Yes we were under / in it - at least that's the way it felt - SW Shropshire.

Some of the most impressive lightning I have seen - in terms of volume / continuous flashes. You couldn't tell which thunder related to which flash of lightning it was so continuous.

Yes I'm further north and we have had heat/dry lightening for the past two nights. Amazing to watch.

Amazing! Thanks for verifying! I imagine being in it would have been amazing! (If you like storms that is....)

There are some very impressive photos/videos on Twitter from it. Looked apocalyptic.

woodyscowboyhat · 11/09/2023 12:36

Yes we did, but it was completely silent! Never seen anything like it before.

NonMiDispiace · 11/09/2023 16:17

It was silent here too (south Gloucestershire), very impressive though!
