Overwhelmed by WhatsApp

Does anyone else feel this? I'm in so many groups (4 DC who all have sports teams/class chats etc etc) that I feel bombarded with messages all day. At one point today I had 52 messages from 13 chats. Some of them are important instructions/questions, others are just easy to move on. I try to schedule time to go through them at once but I feel rude for not replying in a timely fashion to some. I wish I could just delete and be done with it. Anyone have any tips on how to manage?

Turn off all notifications, I have mine off permanently. I archive any groups that aren’t important so I can look at them every now and then, and mute anyone annoying.

Set aside ten mins every day to check (before the time they have to leave for classes in case there are any important updates!) and mute all chats.

Simple but makes a massive difference!

If you can find the info elsewhere, e.g. website for the sports teams, then just leave the groups.

Otherwise, mute them and check occasionally. I'm in quite a few groups where I read much more than I reply and no one seems to take it too personally.

I mute all of the group chats.

Good shout on the mute notifications. I'm definitely going to do that.

It's exhausting isn't it! I mute them all and check once a day for the important bits.

Can you split admin with DCs father, so you are responsible for half the activities each?

Namechangedforspooky · 10/09/2023 22:17

Yes, this is what I do. And mute them all!

Fififafa · 10/09/2023 22:22

Turn off notifications. It’s bliss. Just check them when you have the time to

I have a similar amount and I mute the lot and it makes it tolerable.
