Is anyone else sitting inside in the gloom?

I'm not a fan of moths and it's too warm to close windows and doors, so I don't have any lights on - I don't want any visitors!
Am I alone in my madness? Grin

I'm sure you're not, have done the same at times.

I hate moths. I have not opened any windows today and despite being outside, it has been ok in the house. I do this to kerp the hot air out. I know wat u mean about moths though.

CalistoNoSolo · 09/09/2023 19:47

I love moths, and I'm currently sitting outside waiting to see some bats hunting in my garden. I have seen a lime hawk moth caterpillar, a dagger moth caterpillar and a hummingbird hawk moth caterpillar in the last few days which I'm thrilled about. My garden is a mess but the wildlife love it. Can you sit outside instead?

rileynexttime · 09/09/2023 19:50

I'm sure many of us sit in rooms with closed windows and drawn curtains during the day .
In an effort to keep the sun and heat out .

I don't mind moths so long as they leave my wool and cashmere alone

weegiemum · 09/09/2023 19:56

I'm sitting in the kitchen with the back door open, no chance of anything flying in as it is pouring with rain (thank goodness!). The whole room smells that rain-on-dust smell (petrichor?) and we're waiting for the Chinese takeaway to arrive!

anybloodyname · 09/09/2023 20:17

Where are you @weegiemum
I'd love to stand out in the rain right now 😀
Cannae take much more of this heat

vipersnest1 · 09/09/2023 20:20

@CalistoNoSolo, I love to see bats - and moths are absolutely fine if they stay outside!
@weegiemum, I used to live in the Fens, and the smell of damp peat was lovely. Smile

I'm going to take a stab in the dark, and venture... Glasgow? 😁

CalistoNoSolo · 09/09/2023 20:24

@vipersnest1 get yourself outside then. It's the perfect temperature (here on the cotswolds). Bats are flying and the stars are coming out :)

vipersnest1 · 09/09/2023 20:25

@Somethingsnappy, far, far, south of there.
One of my DCs went to uni there and it's a 7 hour train ride...

My last message was in reply to one a couple above, but I can't see a quote button anymore....?

Somethingsnappy · 09/09/2023 20:28

Found it now!
Sorry about that small derail!

We're sitting in the gloom too, to prevent crane flies. I've already rescued about 10 today.

Sorry, my message was in reply to someone else, but I lost the quote button!

We've had a hummingbird hawk moth that flitted around the living room, it was a bugger to catch, I put it outside 3 times and it flew back in!
Crane flies however, I bloody hate. Nasty clicky unpredictable things 😖
